Business Philosophy

Our objective is to create optimistic, energy efficient, function-based, dynamic designs that evolve out of a collaborative and hands-on interactive process with project stakeholders and our consultant team. We believe that the design process should be a conversation between stakeholders, owners, end users, surrounding communities, and design professionals– which ultimately results in a outcome that captures the voices, energy, and ambition of all those involved.

With a primary focus on interdisciplinary, collaborative, and proactive team efforts that include the Owner in the process, SSA works to create architecture and design that responds to the essential principles of each project. Beyond answering the needs of each client and program, our work builds on qualities historically associated with vernacular architecture – a local sensibility, economy of means and material, and an environmentally appropriate response to site and climate.
