A competition venue, olympic-sized pool serves Rio Grande High School and surrounding neighborhoods, accommodating 600 spectators, a multipurpose classroom, a fitness room and a public lobby. The new facility is fronted by a remnant of the South Valley’s agricultural heritage with native grasses and groves of cottonwoods. Spectator seating looks over the pool and landscape to a framed view of the Sandia Mountains. A digital information/scoreboard celebrates the high school and creates a focal draw for student movement on campus.
